Black-and-blue shins?

I'm a prettty light sleeper, so I think I'd notice if someone kicked me in the shins in the middle of the night. (My poor husband can barely exhale without me snapping at him to "stop snoring!" so it definitely wasn't him.)

My shins are achy and mysteriously black-and-blue.

I've only logged about 200 miles on my current shoes. Time to get a new pair, perhaps? I never heard of shins looking as bad as they felt due to shin splints, but running is full of new discoveries for me, some of them less thrilling than others.

  1. sounds more like a stress fracture than shin splints...

  2. I am afraid of that. I ran today and it looks and feels worse. Oh GREAT. At least my orthopedist is easy on the eyes, given how much I see of him!

  5. Thanks so much, Kristen! It's OK--I'm gonna heal and then maybe just chill on the racing for a while. Season's kind of over here, but I want to get back to just loving the run for a while.

  6. Season's just begun here but I've had to take some healing time off. Nothing makes you appreciate running like forced time off. I should be able to run by the weekend and I can't wait. any new tunes? mine are getting old. Need a fresh list for my fresh start...
